ThinkProgress reports: “An Oklahoma emergency room doctor refused to provide emergency contraception to a 24-year-old female rape victim because the medication violated the health provider’s personal beliefs… ‘I will not give you emergency contraceptives because it goes against my believes,’ the doctor allegedly told the rape victim and her mother, Rhonda. ‘She knew my daughter had just been raped. Her attitude was so judgmental and I felt that she was just judging my daughter.’
Oklahoma law shields providers from offering the perfectly legal medication under a ‘conscience clause’ which could significantly hinder women’s access to contraception services.”
This is sick. You might have to carry your rapist’s child because MY beliefs say so? In what universe is that OK? Whatever happened to “first, do no harm” – and I mean the living, breathing patient in front of you, not a maybe baby conceived by a rape. The religious right whines about secularism intruding into their beliefs, but what is more intrusive than forced pregnancy?
This woman was luckily able to get EC at another hospital. Other people might not be so lucky.

Naya Rivera will appear on the glee project on June 26th, which sees the contestants explore “sexuality”

Glee’s Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera are following Lea Michele and making their debut as mentors on the second season The Glee Project.
The Oxygen reality competition series, which saw four of its freshman season contestants appear on the Fox musical dramedy’s third year, will welcome the Glee stars in its third and fourth episodes, respectively, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.In addition, Glee Project Season 1 co-winner Samuel Larsen will return to Oxygen as a mentor in the second episode, “Dance-ability.”
Michele will kick off the season in an episode focusing on “Individuality.” Monteith will oversee the third episode, airing June 19, which will focus on “Vulnerability” and address bullying, while Rivera’s June 26 hour will see the contestants explore “Sexuality.”

Planned Parenthood Action Fund Proud to Endorse President Obama
“There is no better way to protect the future of women’s health in America than by re-electing President Obama.”
The Planned Parenthood Action Fund will be spending as much time as possible between now and Election Day making sure that every voter in every corner of America knows just what is at stake on November 6.
President Obama knows that protecting women’s access to basic health care is essential. He’s demonstrated that he understands the specific economic challenges women face, and has worked with us hand-in-hand to help women meet those challenges. And, he’s made certain that women and families across America will get birth control covered without a co-pay and expanded access to basic, lifesaving care like cancer screenings, HIV tests and counseling, and more.
Mitt Romney, on the other hand, has promised to “get rid” of Planned Parenthood. He’s pledged to end the nation’s family planning program and to allow employers to deny women insurance that covers birth control. He wants the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, taking away women’s right to make their personal health decisions and giving that power to government and politicians.
